
Grant Writer
• Opportunity scouting – Monitor government, foundation, and corporate grant portals; curate a living pipeline of opportunities aligned with company and client priorities.
• Grant strategy & planning – Evaluate fit, develop timelines, and secure internal buy-in for each target grant.
• Proposal development – Research, draft, edit, and polish letters of intent, full proposals, budgets, and supporting documents that meet (and exceed) funder requirements.
• Stakeholder coordination – Gather technical inputs from subject-matter experts, finance, and legal teams; manage reviews and approvals against tight deadlines.
• Relationship management – Cultivate connections with program officers and funding bodies.
• Compliance & reporting – Maintain accurate records, submission logs, and post-award reporting calendars; ensure every project meets funder guidelines and deliverables.
• Performance analytics – Track hit rates, award values, and cost-to-win metrics; present insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Capacity building – Educate internal teams and clients on funding trends, best practices, and lessons learned to strengthen future applications.
• Proven success securing competitive grants — ideally £500k+ in aggregate awards over the past 6-12 months.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a related field; grant-writing certification a plus.
• Deep knowledge of UK, EU, and international funding landscapes (e.g., Innovate UK, HorizonEurope, NIHR, major philanthropic foundations).
• Demonstrable understanding of basic engineering principles with history of winning projectscentred around mechanical, systems, electronics, and software engineering.
• Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills — able to tailor tone, depth, and complexity todiverse audiences.
• Strong financial literacy: comfortable building budgets, justifying cost models, and interpretingfunder financial rules.
• Excellent project-management abilities: juggle multiple concurrent deadlines while keepingstakeholders aligned and informed.
• Proficiency with common grant-management tools.
• Ability to work both autonomously and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
