method / philosophy

More than a typical incubator.

our method

A venture model built around product reality.

StartUp is built around the realities of product development - not just venture storytelling. We help shape the concept, test the unknowns, build the evidence, and support the route into delivery as an embedded technical partner where needed.

Built for different entry points

principle 01
Some ventures begin with a founder and an idea. Others begin with market traction, internal opportunity or an established business. The method stays the same: define, prove and prepare properly.

Decisions before momentum

principle 02
We do not push ideas forward for the sake of progress. Each phase is designed to resolve the right questions before more time, money and complexity are committed.

A staged route to product reality

principle 03
The journey is simple: define the concept, build the prototype, test what matters, and prepare the product for production and scale.

Where Hooper Quinn goes further.

There are many ways to shape an early-stage venture. Hooper Quinn is designed to do more than strategy, mentoring or concept support alone - bringing product development, engineering capability and a route into manufacture into the same model.

our team

The team behind your product journey.

Hooper Quinn brings together engineers from advanced technology sectors including Formula One, motorsport, medtech and biotech to support your venture through each phase of the product journey - from concept and feasibility through to prototype, production and scale.
stage 01

Idea / Concept

Idea / concept

Define the product before you commit the build.

We turn early assumptions into requirements, technical priorities and a build plan that can survive scrutiny.
01

What this stage is for

Turning a concept, opportunity or assumption set into a defined technical direction.
02

What gets resolved

• product scope
• feasibility questions
• technical unknowns
• development priorities
• cost / complexity direction
03

What you leave with

• clearer product definition
• initial requirements
• technical feasibility view
• roadmap for prototype work
• budget-aware next-step plan
04

What this unlocks next

A more credible prototype brief and development pathway.

How we work in this phase.

Early-stage work is about converting assumptions into decisions. We help you define the technical scope, identify the unknowns, and produce a costed plan that can be funded and executed.

stage 02

Prototyping / Development

Prototype / Development

Build the evidence before you commit to scale.

We turn product definition into tested prototypes, validated learnings and a stronger basis for production decisions.
01

What this stage is for

Turning a defined product direction into working prototypes and real development evidence.
02

What gets resolved

• whether the concept works in practice
• what needs refining in the design
• how subsystems perform and integrate
• what testing reveals about risk and performance
• what is ready to move towards industrialisation
03

What you leave with

• working prototype hardware and/or software
• validated test learnings
• clearer design priorities
• improved technical confidence
• a stronger basis for production planning
04

What this unlocks next

A more production-ready design, with clearer decisions around manufacture, supply chain and scale-up.

How we work in this phase.

At this stage, the focus shifts from planning to proof. We prototype, test, refine and integrate - using each development cycle to strengthen the product and reduce the risk of scaling too early.

There is a best practice for developing prototypes which has been realised by the most successful product development companies in the world. In this guide, we set out the four phases which constitute that vital practices.

stage 03

Production / Scale

Production / Scale

Prepare the product for repeatable delivery.

We turn validated prototypes into production-ready packages, combining industrialisation planning with in-house manufacturing capability that most incubators do not offer.
01

What this stage is for

Turning a validated product into something manufacturable, repeatable and ready for controlled scale-up.
02

What gets resolved

• how the product should be manufactured
• what needs to change for repeatability and cost control
• which suppliers, processes and materials are appropriate
• how quality, testing and compliance will be managed
• what the route to pilot build and scale-up should be
03

What you leave with

• production-ready design intent
• clearer manufacturing and supplier strategy
• pilot build or pre-production plan
• stronger quality and process definition
• a more credible route to commercial delivery
04

What this unlocks next

A more controlled route into manufacture and scale - with fewer unknowns in cost, quality and delivery.
related services

How we work in this phase.

At this stage, the focus shifts from development to delivery. We refine the design for production, shape the supply chain, plan pilot builds, and reduce the operational risk of moving too fast into manufacture. Crucially, Hooper Quinn can also bring in-house manufacturing capability into the process - something most incubators cannot offer.
in-house manufacturing

Where Hooper Quinn goes further.

Unlike most incubators, Hooper Quinn does not stop at planning and prototype. We can also support the move into manufacture through in-house production capability - helping bridge the gap between a validated product and a buildable one.
