Electric drivetrain feasibility
The challenge.
An industrial equipment manufacturer wanted to replace a pneumatic drive with an electric drivetrain. The aim was to remove reliance on an external compressed-air supply while retaining the performance of the existing product.
The client's core product design was fixed and outside Hooper Quinn's scope. The proposed drivetrain therefore had to work with the existing interfaces, with the supporting functions needed for the change considered as part of the assessment.
Our approach.
Hooper Quinn assessed the proposed change against the client's equipment and operating conditions. Discovery and feasibility work covered the electric drivetrain and the additional supporting system needed to integrate it with the unchanged client product.
The team worked through the engineering trade-offs, with a focus on reducing complexity and part count where the design allowed. The assessment informed a technical proposal for the client's review.
What we delivered.
Hooper Quinn completed the discovery and feasibility work package and prepared a technical proposal. That proposal is currently under client review ahead of the next work package. The client's decision will determine how the project proceeds.
