Hooper Quinn joined our clients Off the Deck to showcase the first prototype of the SeaDriveCX in its natural habitat - Superyacht Loon

This week, Hooper Quinn took to the Mediterranean to support our client Off the Deck in showcasing the first prototype of the SeaDriveCX aboard one of the world’s most famous superyachts. The event was an unprecedented success and marked an essential milestone in the product’s development journey.

Our partners at Off the Deck, Alex, Ashley and Alan, gave a pitch-perfect introduction to the crew as the prototype SeaDrive performed seamlessly under the blazing Mediterranean sun.

The SeaDrive hit the mark in terms of on-deck entertainment, with passengers and crew continuing to play as the sun set over the water. There was genuine excitement about the concept and its execution - all were drawn to interact with it and play through the courses on offer well into the evening.

But it was also in the twilight hours that the special aesthetics of the SeaDrive were revealed in full, its sleek, motorsport-inspired lines and curved TV lift right at home at the summit of luxury design that the superyacht has come to represent.

The unit’s suite of illuminations worked to accentuate the contours of the SeaDrive’s design as the light faded, facilitating all-night play and inviting the intrigue and envy of neighbouring yachts from a distance (an effect that we expect will be amplified when the fully customisable lights are tuned to match a boat’s logo and livery).

The demonstration on Loon was not only the first opportunity for future customers and other interested parties from the industry to get hands-on with the product. It was also the first opportunity for us to observe the prototype’s response to real-world environments populated with real-world users.

The SeaDrive exceeded expectations in this regard, far outperforming what can be expected of a first prototype. The sun was sufficiently intense to push all electronic devices on the ship to their operating temperature limits and so test the SeaDrive’s bespoke water-cooled systems, which succeeded in keeping the unit running unhampered. So too the humidity and occasional saltwater splashes helped to prove the unit’s waterproof rating effective. The brightness of the touchscreen more than matched up to the direct light of the high midday sun, allowing gameplay to continue uninterrupted, while the unit sat steady on the deck.

Most gratifying for the Hooper Quinn and Off the Deck teams was simply observing the SeaDrive’s sheer presence on deck. Striking a balance between robustness, power and elegance, the design elevated the environment in which it sat and from which it issued a loud call to be interacted with.

It is perhaps for this reason that the SeaDrive has already caught the attention of many in the industry, beyond its demonstration on Loon, having recently landed the number one spot on Edmiston’s Top 6 Luxury Yacht Accessories for 2024 and gaining a length feature on FunAir’s website.

We look forward to our next superyacht visit in the course of our continued testing and demonstration activities.
