Hooper Quinn sponsors Callan Trump’s 350z

Hooper Quinn are proud to sponsor our very own Callan Trump in his 2024 racing ambitions.

Callan is a invaluable and much respected member of our Motorsport engineering team, so it is our great pleasure to have been able to make a modest contribution to the development of his Nissan 350z classic tourer for the 2024 season.

Callan has spent the better part of the last eight years racing single-seaters in sprints and hillclimbs. In an effort to bring his extensive aero expertise to the fore, he acquired the 350z back in 2021 with a view to fitting a substantial rear wing. Just a standard road car at the time, Callan sourced parts and built everything on the 350z himself, racing in sprints in 2022, and even snagging three third-place finishes from four rounds in 2023. 

After turning 40, Callan decided it was time to fulfil a dream he had harboured since childhood: to take part in some proper circuit racing. And so, this year, he has entered the Classic Touring Car Racing Club's Thunder Saloons Championship, spending the last six months working to upgrade the car to full race specifications.

Dedicated to unlimited front-engined, steel-bodied, two-wheel drive cars, the 2024 Thunder Saloon series is set for the end of March at Donnington. With each round consisting of a couple of 15-minute races, Callan is hoping to compete in four rounds.

The 350z, while close to standard in terms of power and drivetrain, has undergone extensive upgrades on its suspension and aerodynamics, and is fitted with Nissan GTR front brakes. From its times in testing, the car's performance is shaping up nicely and seems set to establish a mid-grid position in the Thunder Saloons Class B (engine size <3999cc).

We’re thrilled to have been able to support Callan, and we only hope to increase our support in the future.
